About Blair Seitz

PHOTOGRAPHER, AUTHOR & PUBLISHER

Blair Seitz

What Blair Seitz did for fun as a boy is still his pleasure. In his youth, Seitz shot plenty of film behind his home near the Yellow Breeches Creek in York Co. Pennsylvania. Today, based in West Reading PA, he continues creating remarkable images with enjoyment.

Blair is the photographer of 21 books. Titles include Philadelphia and its Countryside, Pennsylvania Tapestry: Views from the Air, Pennsylvania’s Natural Beauty, and Amish Ways. Seventeen of his books were published by RB Books, a publishing firm he and Ruth Hoover Seitz founded in 1991. Seven of his books comprise the series Pennsylvania’s Natural and Cultural Heritage.

Blair leases his photographs from Blairseitz.com. His agencies in New York, London and Tokyo lease photographs for editorial and promotional publications. Blair’s photographs have been published in leading magazines and newspapers in North America, Europe and Asia, including Time, Newsweek, National Geographic Traveler, Guardian and New York Times Sunday Magazine.

Blair also maintains a stock file of photographs including the most comprehensive imagery of landscapes, historic sites and cultural subjects of the state of Pennsylvania available at one location. He adds regularly to his file of 60,000 images. He has included South Jersey (southern New Jersey) in his regional coverage.

For nine years, Seitz lived and worked in Kenya and the Philippines traveling to many Asian and African countries to fulfill assignments for Camera Press London, the United Nations and many magazines.

Blair was awarded a fellowship grant from the Pennsylvania Council of the Arts as well as a silver medal in New York’s International Film and TV Festival for work on four Kenyan ethnic groups. His prints have been exhibited by the World Exhibition of Photography and the Museum of Natural History, New York.
